In the Matter of Verizon New York Inc.'s Network Review Plan

NOTICE SOLICITING COMMENTS ON VERIZON NEW YORK INC.’S NETWORK REVIEW PLAN

The NYS Dept of Public Staff has determined that Verizon New York Inc.’s failure to adhere to the National Electrical Code and its own methods and procedures (M&Ps) relating to the installation and proper grounding and bonding of FiOS brand network resulted in a high proportion of installations that did not comply with these requirements. On July 15, 2008, Verizon filed a Network Review Plan to investigate and remediate faulty installations and ensure compliance with its M&Ps and the NEC for proper grounding and bonding of future installations of its FiOS Optical Network Terminals. The Commission is considering whether to approve, modify, or reject in whole or in part, Verizon’s Plan and seeks the public’s input. The Plan is available on the Commission’s website at http://www.dps.state.ny.us/New_telcomNews.html.

Accordingly, persons or entities wishing to comment on Verizon’s Plan shall submit, by close of business on September 22, 2008, an original and five copies of their comments, including their names, addresses, and e-mail addresses, to Jacly A. Brilling, Secretary to the New York State Public Service Commission, 3 Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12223-1350. Electronic service may be made to secretary@dps.state.ny.us, provided hard copy service is made by the due date.
